A support cable has snapped on the Clyde Arc Bridge, the newest road crossing of the River Clyde at Glasgow.
The bridge which opened in 2006 has now been closed to traffic by police which, as with any UK road closure, will probably cause absolute chaos in tomorrow morning’s rush-hour.
Presumably the designers, Halcrow Group and the civil engineering contractor, Edmund Nuttall Ltd who built the £20.3 million bridge will be called in to examine the structure.
