2 killed in Western European Fuel Protests
Posted by: delusional in Automotive, Cars, Economy, NewsTwo people have now died in incidents related to fuel protests in Portugal and Spain.
In Lisbon, Portugal, a 52 year old protester was killed when he attempted to prevent a lorry crossing a picket line. Reportedly he fell under the wheels of the moving vehicle.
In Spain, a protesting truck driver was killed under the wheels of a van at a wholesale market in Granada.
It’s unfortunate, ultimately the escalating price of fuel could lead to deaths from hunger and starvation as supplies become unaffordable but it seems senseless to have incidents like these at mere protest rallies and pickets. Democratic protest is important in any democratic nation but it shouldn’t needlessly be taken to the extreme of endangering one’s life.
