The BBC reports that an RAF Harrier jump jet has crashed near RAF Cottesmore in Rutland, UK at approximately 1250 ZULU.

The pilot is reported to have ejected from the aircraft before it crashed and is receiving medical treatment, his condition was described as ‘alive and well’. A cordon has been put in place at the crash site and there are no injuries reported to persons on the ground or damage to property. The area surrounding RAF Cottesmore is largely rural with extensive agriculture. Leicester fire service provided 10 pumps to the scene.

RAF Cottesmore is current home to four Harrier wings, 1 Fighter Squadron, IV Squadron, 800 Naval Air Squadron and 801 Naval Air Squadron (comprises Naval Strike Wing) operting Harrier GR7, GR7A, GR9, GR9A and T10 types.
